Indian accounting guide

Indian accounting, explained through everyday business entries.

Understand what gets debited, credited, recorded and reviewed when money or goods move.

Learn the transaction first, then explore the related voucher, tool or Fastbooks workflow.

What it means

Indian business bookkeeping records sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, payments and related party or tax ledgers. An invoice or bank transfer is evidence, not by itself a completed accounting entry.

Example: an invoice and the supplier balance

Buying goods on credit creates a purchase or inventory entry and a supplier payable. Paying that supplier later is a separate transaction that reduces the payable and the bank balance. Keep both source references for reconciliation.

What to verify

Examples are educational. GST, TDS/TCS, inventory valuation and financial-statement treatment depend on transaction facts and applicable rules; verify them with your accountant.
